A looks fine. Are you replacing the windows or matching them on that elevation? That will make an integration difference.

Do you have a perspective. Flat elevation drawing makes things look worse. Also colours. The upper roof I assume is recessed and should be a sort of shadow so darker colour and read separately.

Is the new roof positioned within the existing roof or does it connect/relate to the extension beyond and in turn the extended building form? An elevation of the other side would help

I reckon an offset gable solution would work better like where you were going with your third option and follow windows over - it will be more sympathetic to the existing form

@paul the higher back bit is all new building and roof being connected to the existing roof. Thought the extra height gives us light in and higher ceilings (5m at highest point ) provides bit of feature for main living areas (new addition)

whilst it looks ok from this side, it potentially may be out of scale / at odds if this is the articulated form down to the ground on the other side facade - it would work ok if this higher roof section pops up is recessed back from the facade / sited on top of & within existing roof form as 5m is quite high...just need to make sure it's balanced from the other side too or have a pergola element or extended roof overhang integrated following the existing roof line so that is visually referenced from the other side

What is the recess distance from the front facade to the pop up

Ahh ok, it's this one.............My next question would be what's proposed for the alfresco and Living roof forms? How is the form resolved/articulated at the point of connection between these two spaces? From the plan it looks like the alfresco and bedrooms has a continuation of the existing/established roof form around to the rear and then it pops up over the living/kitchen & meals.... It's arguably more important that it works from the back as in reality from the front it's not going to be that obvious/prominent so it's more about function - the high level glazing a good idea but consider the proportion and divisions of the windows - the 4x divisions feel odd - play around with 3 or two...... more horizontal proportions and less divisions will make it feel more architectural and streamlined....again how does this relate/connect to the rear fenestration design - it should be taking reference from something......if there's one design rule to rule them all it's have a reason and rationale for every decision, whether it be function, preference, reference etc....in renovations/alt & adds a lot of the answers/ guides are already in front of us in regards to what to do or not...just have to be tuned into the reference points, filter ideas with purpose and maintain consistency .....anyway a rear elevation would be helpful to better understand the scenario
