To paint or not to paint prior to selling?

Looking for advice on whether it would be worth painting our kitchen prior to selling. We have received a quote of $6k so are leaning towards not painting it. We have had conflicting advice from our real estate vs stylist whether or not it would be worth it. We have updated a lot about the house since we purchased 2.5 years ago and now the kitchen and upstairs bathroom are the bigger give-aways to the home's age. The kitchen has updated appliances and the cupboards are hardwood and in quite good condition. What are people's thoughts? How likely would be to get more than the money we put into painting the kitchen back on the sale of the house?
I've attached a photo of the kitchen from when it was listed when we purchased (it still looks the same). I also attached a photo of our living room which is in the same space for reference (only photo I have handy without my kids in it).
