Floorplan feedback for extension please!

last year

Looking for feedback and suggestions please.
We've got a budget of 150-200k to extend our house and update the interior.
The larger bedroom and bathroom/laundry have recently been renovated so not looking to change anything there.
We need another bedroom and living space, and would like a second bathroom and fourth bedroom/playroom if budget allows.
The rear of the house faces north with lovely light in the master and bathroom. The kitchen is small but works, and does get nice afternoon light.
We have a large unused front yard with a 19m frontage.
The current idea is to utilise this space (subject to council approval). This plan would still allow access to the back yard. The wall with the living spaces is a shared wall (maisonette but Torrens Title).
The rear of the home houses all the plumbing/gas/solar so extending that way would involve additional costs in relocating everything which we hope to avoid.
We would use skylights to bring more natural light into the living spaces.
Is it silly to not extend the living spaces backwards to make the most of the home's orientation?
Any suggestions for how we can improve things?
We have space to the rear and side to extend as well. Having a large open space for the kids to play is important, so not looking to use too much of the backyard space.
Thank you!
