I am building a house. My staircase is Tasmanion Oak. My flooring is blackbutt laminate. I would like to preserve the natural look of the stairs while matching with the flooring. What products you could suggest?
If you're aiming to preserve the natural grain of the stairs while toning them to match the floor, I’d suggest looking into a water-based stain or tintable sealer. They’re great for bringing out the natural texture without yellowing over time. You could test a few sample stains on offcuts. Something with a warm honey or light brown tone might blend well with blackbutt. Also, a satin finish can help it look more consistent with laminate while still feeling like real timber underfoot.
