Drawers are always going to be more functional than low shelves, so in the 2nd plan , I would change it to drawers both sides. IKEA do a slide out shelf which is perfect to place at the bottom for shoes and takes up less space than their shoe shelves. For the upper section, It depends whether you have lots of clothes that are better on hangers or if you need shelving for jumpers, etc, maybe shelves one side and hanging the other. In the 1st plan, which I assume is the hers side, it only allows about 20cms for long hanging, probably not enough. I would suggest again, a slide out shelf at the bottom for shoes, then 4 drawers above on one side and 2 drawers on the other, with hanging space above. The rack for hanging pants will provide limited storage compared to drawers so probably isn’t the best use of the limited space.
In image 1 delete the lower hanging rack and add another drawer for shoes. Winder the drawers to full width on other side . But really work out what you need. For me double everything? Do you have drawers elsewhere?
Thanks all! Please see updated designs below. What are your thoughts? Few things to note:
- Ive put the slide out organiser draws closest to the door when you walk in for ease of access.
- I can only fit sliding doors on one side on the right. Ive made his side the right so i can put sliding mirrrored doors on preventing dust due to dust allergy. Left hand side is hers and no doors.
First photo looks good. Again with the second wardrobe it depends what you want to hang. Do you have many dresses, long coats etc as you will fit very little in the space allowed. Do you particularly want to hang pants below as you will not be able to hang many on that rack compared to what could be stored in drawers or hang above with shirts etc. You could have 2 drawers at the bottom and probably have another shoe shelf as well and still have enough height to hang longer items above. The shelf above will fit ikea’s storage bags which you can just pull out to access whatever you choose to store there. The pull out tray you have above the drawers can be useful for things like jewelry or other shallow items but if it’s not something you will use then probably a waste of space. These shelves can be used at the bottom instead of the shoe shelf and take up less space.
