Hi laura_85 Your room looks lovely and the architecture looks classic 60,70s with high vaulted ceilings. You could furnish with a retro vibe with mid century modern inspired bedsides (see below) and I would recommend a contrast to the timber with an upholstered bedhead. Keep the furniture and bedhead shapes in a streamlined design to be more modern. A bed base on legs will keep an open feel to the room. An accent chair is also a great addition to the space- the butterfly chair suggested would be great. Add plenty of textures (bedding, cushions, throws) in neutral tones to soften the room. A couple of small prints above the bed will finish off the look. Consider the window furnishings as well in your selections. These triangular windows are tricky and limit your choices. Best wishes

Awesome. Thanks guys. Yep - in QLD and is a very breezy home so I’m not too worried about air flow. If I get smaller furniture it would be so I could easily clean underneath and retrieve lost LEGO;) I fear that I’ve already got TV too high but if I move it I will definitely go lower - have a sore neck. And although is living room it is mostly used for TV. Kids have toy room for playing and many of our conversations happen on our dining table or outside areas. So comfort is a large consideration. Option 3 also looks the best to me (seems to be the general fave!). Agreeing with the idea of an L shaped sofa that can seat more people, as an option you can also get a bed (fold out sofabed) fitted inside, if you think you will need an extra bed on occasion. I think you've identified some good concerns. But would the sun glare reach that far? Is the alfresco not covered? I like that the dining room and kitchen also have a view to the tv. I'd lose the fireplace, I know they have a lovely ambience but they're a lot of work to operate correctly. It's funny how designers talk about not wanting the tv to dominate a room but are fine with archaic heating technology which only has a purpose for half the year dominating the design decisions for a room.
