design help please: 2 bedrooms to one long rectangular bedroom

last year

Hi all, I’ve bought a house with my mum where I live with my 2 kids. We’ve divided the house pretty much in half so she gets the front section which includes the main bedroom, living and converted garage. We share the kitchen, and I have the back part of the house. To create a main bedroom for me we’ve decided to remove a wall between to rooms as pictured below which will create a room approx 5.4 x 3.7. Originally I was thinking of keeping the wall partially in place so we could reconvert to 2 rooms by readding a wide door when we sell but think it would look clunky and I feel like there are more people nowadays who would want similar living arrangements(?).

Assuming I remove the wall entirely, I’m trying to figure out how to set the room up taking into account two doors and the windows. We’re also on a pretty strict budget so about $5000 to remove the wall and then about another $5000 for the rest. I like the idea of adding a walk through wardrobe like the photo I’ve included (so centre wall and wardrobe can be accessed from either side. Would this work with the room? It would have to be placed at a right angle in the middle of one of the windows, would that look ok?

Then the wall would act as a bed head. Then I’d want a tv on the other wall (love some ideas on what I could do with that wall too).

Very open to other ideas and opinions on what I could do within that budget too 🙂.
