To Screen or Not to Screen

To screen or not to screen! The finishing touches are going on on our Coastal/Queenslander in the tropics! I’m torn on window screens. I’ve searched Pinterest and this group but can’t find many inspo photos where Crimsafe or Invisi-Gard are used over colonial bar windows without compromising that breezy, coastal aesthetic.

Our home has:

Colonial bar double-hung windows
Louvres, picture windows & an arch window
French glass front doors & white tones throughout
We get amazing sea breezes, but also have flies, mozzies, and geckos galore. I’m tempted to go with flyscreens—lighter, cheaper, and won’t cover the façade—so I can still press go on all the dreamy shutters, blinds & sheers. (And not live with sheets up for another 5 yrs) haha! But break-ins are increasing in our area and I’m wondering if security screens are worth it?

Will they ruin the look… or is it worth the peace of mind?
Would love to hear what others have done in similar homes and see some inspo pics! Or if there are alternate products that we can possibly obtain in Queensland.

Thanks so much for your time.

Many of our windows are a lovely cathedral glass.
