Mirrored rangehood - are you a fan?
Comments (61)We have a glass rangehood similar to Futuro Futuro's Acqualina Glass product and I love it. The top and bottom of the glass gets given a clean about once a week with citrus multi-purpose cleaning spray and then wiped down with a moistened glass cleaning cloth for a pristine finish. Takes around 5 minutes in total. Cleaning the brushed stainless part is more difficult. As mentioned previously, its hard to remove all the marks. Will definately try the WD40. Me, personally, I don't like the mirrored finish. Given the window is acting as the "splashback" I would have gone for something invisible like what Sheryl Horton showed....See MoreDoes my kitchen HAVE to have a rangehood?
Comments (24)Hello, Sorry in advance to bring up an old thread/subject, However looking for any additional advice/direction i can get on comment from midesign0401 below... mldesign0401 In Victoria a range hood is a requirement in new kitchens. No longer is it acceptable for a simple exhaust unit, rather it must now be ducted to external air. So your range hood must be flued either through your roof space or via a horizontal duct to an external wall. It must be installed and signed off, and your house insurance will require your sign off document if your house insurance is to cover damage due to fire, or you will find yourself in a predicament. The provision for installing a range hood above a gas cooktop is a minimum placement of 650mm above your cooktop, and 605 for an electric hob. Including induction. Hope this helps. Our new home got handed over to us by builder just before Christmas (21/12/2018), We are still waiting for under mount rangehood to be installed into our kitchen, The house was delivered with no rangehood as the hole they provided was to close to accommodate rangehood selection, After a couple of visits we have been told that cupboards are to be removed and replaced, Which we are still waiting for as the 'cabinetmaker is very busy', My inquiry is to see whether there is a building code reference/link I can forward on to them to hurry the process up, Also concerned that insurance would not cover our new house if there happened to be a fire Thanks in advance, We look forward o nay help, Regards, Ken and Nadia Buxton...See MoreOff centre rangehood and oven
Comments (14)Hi Julie, There's a discrepancy between your front and overhead elevations on your plans. Your front elevation indicates 1050 per side of the centre line - indicating a total length of the wall as 2100 with a 900 oven - effectively leaving you with 600 either side for your microwave and cupboard. Your overhead elevation is looking off - it's indicating 540 cupboard, 900 oven and 600 totalling 2040mm and the combined length on that plan is stating 2040mm. Looks to my amateur eye that there is a hiccup in the plans - head down to site with a tape measure and check what's been built - and talk to your builder about how he read the plans (I'd also be asking why this is the first time I'm seeing any issues). You could make it look less noticeable by changing the small cupboard doors - just have one door rather than two will help alleviate the look of the 60mm discrepancy. If you find that it is the plans that are off - I'd go back to whomever drew them up for a quiet word - you won't help yourself but you might stop someone else from having a similar issue. Good luck!...See MoreNeed help with kitchen rangehood and open shelving combo
Comments (4)Sharon, I think they both look great. Trust your instincts. I personally would not be put off buying a house, because I didn't like range hood. I really like the sound of all the choices you have chosen for the kitchen....See More- last month
