Help! I think I bought the wrong bathroom tiles
Comments (51)Sounds like a very stressful situation! If there is absolutely no way the builder will allow you to change things (even if they did, I imagine they would ask you to foot the entire bill of pulling the tiles down and replacing all water proofing in addition to new tiles), I can make a few suggestions for improvement. Firstly I would suggest replacing the tiles above the vanity with a white mosaic, a patterned or a textured feature tile/strip. You could also use this same tile to replace the vertical feature in the shower. There are some beautiful shapes and sizes available to choose from. Secondly I would address the grout situation in this way: Floor - dark colour grout & Walls - Light colour grout. Lastly if it does not prove too difficult or expensive, maybe replace the tiles below the vanity with a plain white tile (could be similar size). Good luck and I am sure once you have a lovely mirror up and some crisp white towels, it will look just wonderful....See MoreHelp! Couple divided on the bathroom decor
Comments (37)I prefer pic 1 due to the lighting and the warmth of the timber aspects. However, I agree that there is too much open shelving and would put a full sized mirror on the cupboard over the basin - only in show homes are peoples' cupboards full of nicely spaced expensive bottles of hair products! Mine are always just full of "stuff". Also, I find pic 2 just bland and uninteresting - and it highlights one of my BIGGEST pet hates - the placement of the toilet paper! I have yet to meet anyone who is able to be sitting on the throne, and reach backwards, either over their shoulder or under, to easily reach the toilet paper, and it would fill me with fury several times/day! IMNVHO, toilet paper holders should be placed either to left or right of toilet at just above knee height while sitting - anywhere else and it becomes the dreaded gnashing of teeth at Form over Function!...See MoreDo you think my kitchen colours work?
Comments (40)I'm starting to shop around for breakfast bar stools as the island is going to be my dinner table for a while. It's hard trying to find a bat stool that will suit colour/looks wise. What are your thoughts on this bar stool, do you think the colour will match my kitchen?...See MoreFun bathroom challenge around a pink bath
Comments (22)Hi, Just a couple of final comments. I don't think it will look cheap if you keep the bath, if it is done well. There have been some great suggestions for you to consider. The herringbone floor tile you originally posted looks quite peach in tone and that would not work with the tone of the bath. If you are adding any pink to the room, try to keep on neutral to blue side of pink rather than neutral to yellow. Essentially I think by keeping the bath, whilst modernising the room, you need to have a 'nod' the the art deco origins of the bath. The terrazzo or small mosaic Bisazza like tiles will help with that. The Zellige wall tiles can have a similar impact and although there may be a few peacher tones in the mix of those tiles, you cabn select those out if you order more than you need. Use them somewhere else, like a laundry splashback! The coloured tiles could be a feature wall or the floor and then balance the cost of those with a simple white tile elsewhere. Be careful of using a brick bond tile pattern as that is reminisent of times pre dating the bath and you want to bring the room forward in time. Tapware is a bit tricky. I'm not a fan of black as I think it is a fashion that will fade and generally black will mark in a wet area that may have calcification or with cleaning products over time. Copper would look cool if you can afford it and brushed brass would work nicely too. It depends on what other metals you have around. What door handles are you having? You can make the bathroom different to the rest of the house if you want but don't mix and match in the one room. Good luck and post photos when done. Christine....See More- 5 months ago
