help with entry way

Hi, I am wanting to add something to the left wall at my entrance. The wall is 800mm wide and the width of the hallway is 1200mm. I would love a console table with a mirror but is the space too narrow for it? If so would a wall mirror alone or a painting be better off

Sorry, the wall space is actually 1100 not 800

If you need a mirror add a mirror but it is not really reflecting much interest.

Love all the wonderful comments above. The only thing I would add is: really consider what you want to use this room for... What do you want the room to do? Welcoming guests? If it is welcoming, then think about what makes you feel welcomed when you walk in - that ahhhh feeling.....maybe plants (a bonsai project would work well in that light), some family photos instead of a mirror, coat hanger behind door, buffet table (where you stand your G&T chrystal set on a nice sliver tray). Or is it a Staging ground for getting out the door? Then perhaps the mirror, some sort of rack for bags & hats etc, a bench for sitting and putting on shoes, cork board for reminders etc (it is possible to have these all behind a thin closet so closed doors hide any clutter). Whatever you choose, I just find it helpful to keep the rooms purpose in mind.

Hi, not sure how the full length of your wall jutting out looks. But I think a mirror covering that entire part of the wall and then a fantastic piece of artwork on the wall above your small table would look great and open the space up a lot. Depending on the size of the artwork you could even do without the table. Imagine the gorgeous impact that would make.

If this is to be your forever home, I would suggest to convert the bedroom 4, with the existing ensuite and shed, into a master suite. If your boys are 6 and 8 years old, they will soon be 13 and 15 and you won’t want to share a bathroom with them, and you would not want them to access your bedroom unannounced through the bathroom! Totally renovate the bathroom into what you require for the boys and guests. Totally renovate the bed 4, ensuite and shed into your master suite. Look to the future use, as it will be here before you know it. Don’t renovate for what you need now renovate for what is needed in the future, as in this build environment it may take longer to be completed than anticipated.

Unless you need a mirror and console for functionality I’d suggest a large artwork. As above the mirror wouldn’t reflect anything interesting and it would be best to not add another hard shiny surface.

You could add an oversize artwork , a mirror with a console, you could add a strip of cladding in your door colour for interest , statement lighting, I love your floors so I wouldn’t add a runner, but that’s me, you can experiment with rugs that you can see in your home on line.

My entry hall is 1500mm wide, I have a 450mm deep console. This is enough room to not crowd the entry hall. I would not have console protruding more than 200mm in a 1200mm wide hallway. The examples that Julie Herbert has posted are wonderful, however I would be aware of the depth of any installation, and also the fact there are doorways either side of the wall in question. So anything you put on that wall should be curved and not more than 200mm in depth. This would avoid hip and head damage for adults and children.
