Entrance, staircase and hallway - which walls to decorate?
Comments (3)@Lighting55.com - thank you. When installing wallpaper, do you recommend going all the way to the top, or just the ground floor? Because some walls continue upstairs (i.e. are very very tall). Also, we don't really have a lot of walls in the entrance, would wallpaper look odd? http://st.houzz.com/fimgs/0e8232e602b540bf_0307-w600-h376-b1-p0--home-design.jpg...See MoreEntry Hallway certainly a BIG Design Dilemma ?
Comments (14)I would paint the brick the same colour as your walls then follow the trim work you already have, I then place a sprint on the wall and place your wedding photo else where, I would also paint our door and window trim the same colour as the white trim to brighten the whole area. Also a nice plant but not a high one I think would also look nice,if your not into plants a then a empty bowl,...See MoreEntry and hallway to narrow
Comments (12)Thank you so much everyone for your great ideas, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, long weekend and my grandchildren staying over. I loved the idea of a statement pendant Cooper design, and the glass console, I get a bit confused with my style(lol) and I have to keep in mind the continuity as you have mentioned, so I don't have a mish mash of different things. Big reader I have had the console in the lounge there when I first bought it, it looked good but I needed it in my lounge.. I'll put a photo of the clock I think it's a bit old fashioned. Nik star the end wall looks really good and your right it draws the eye, there is certainly food for thought in all of your suggestions....See MoreDilemma bare hallway -so many different floor coverings- how to solve
Comments (5)Unsure how to cover this utility hall floor. previously carpeted, and ripped up due to washing machine leaks, heavy wear and tear, i did put new grey carpet in bedrooms 1 and 3 and formal lounge. the door shown is bedroom 2, needing to replace its carpet hoping for some sort of flow, but if its different oh well its guest room anyway. i cannot match the existing grey tiles. what can i do, it needs to not look odd with the flooring in family room kitchen and hall leading to portico front entry. I do not like the reddish laminate and its worn in some areas. do i replace all or some or is there another idea? walls will be painted grey with white trim. not a fan of existing beige . original thought was chocolate brown main hall, was told my house too dark. and doesnt solve problem of not wanting laminate near laundry, other thoughts - some sort of large white tlle? too clinical? terrazo with a greyish fleck to match wet area grey tiles- too modern industral? my style is perhaps Hampton without the beach (lol) family, pet, guest, grandchildren friendly, overstuffed sofa, lots of photos and fresh flowers. perhaps will replace wooden blinds with long flowy airy white. other pics show the new carpet -i love its texture, and the nasty reddish laminate. maybe i can leaver some and cover with rug? any ideas gratefully accepted....See More- 2 months ago
