What is the wall length in laundry, between kitchen wall and garage door, then garage door to end laundry wall. Could the fridge fit in the space between kitchen wall and garage door? Is the garage door to outside courtyard a thoroughfare that is used a lot? Would they be happy with an under bench oven? And microwave positioned at bench height where pantry currently is? What I see, if the fridge is relocated and an under bench oven installed with cook top, then that entire wall could have bench space either side of oven. With keeping the pantry and incorporating the microwave at bench height in that area.
The trough, under bench washing machine and dryer stay on the current wall of laundry, with overhead cupboards across that wall. You may even be able to put a long vertical cupboard for brooms and vacuum.

Laundry example. Organised placement of appliances and more essential storage. Nothing has been removed, just organised with under bench appliances.

They don’t really need a formal laundry. More European style where appliances are hidden under bench tops. She’s more keen on storage for kitchen the current laundry.

If the garage is very large, then could all the laundry equipment be relocated to garage? This would leave the laundry free to convert to an extension of the kitchen. Instead of having your “dirty socks with your soup” storage.

Yes the garage can fit two cars. Some stuff from there will soon be relocated to a shed so technically it could.

And extend the kitchen right into laundry?
Um I guess so but space is so tight. Plus all the plumbing would need to be moved. $$$$$

Agree with what’s been suggested. Underbench oven to free up some bench space. But really need to declutter existing main bench. Add shelves to left of window as per 1st photo. Laundry. Keep it inside but add overhead cupboards along end wall.

Yes the cupboards are not practical. Too much wasted space. They will be removed to allow drawers and she can increase the increase the bench length.

It really is about organisation, and installation of drawers, where practical, is a start to do that. A drawer to keep all the “stuff” on the bench is a game changer to help declutter the bench to give more workspace. With drawers, nothing gets lost at the back of the cupboard, and you can have the drawers different depth and lengths depending on what needs to be stored. Personally, I also would keep the laundry appliances it the laundry room. The room is a thoroughfare so not really a true pantry area. But with installation of proper storage, as per photos I posted earlier, it will give room for storage of kitchen items that are rarely used. Freeing up the kitchen space.

Another idea to add. Install drawers on the back side of the peninsula bench. Just shallow depth. This can then hold the medications, paperwork etc, that are required each day.

Example. Only need to to be overhang depth. And still be room to sit at bench if required.

I’d also keep the laundry room as a room but kit it out with cabinetry and see what can be moved there eg appliances that are used less frequently. I’d put a double pantry where the fridge and wall over are - microwave goes in the pantry. Oven goes under the cooktop and the fridge goes where the pantry is now.
