Help decorate with minimum efforts

I don't want to change much. Simply make it cleaner, nicer, and more functional. On the bottom left, there is a toilet. Before that toilet, there is an unidentified area. I need assistance in this area. This unidentified area is on the left (shown in the image) and right (not shown)

Is this a bathroom? Obviously to be clean and functional minimally needs a floor and walls painted. The structure to left is that a basin- I ca see a pipe at back of it. Shower?

Thank you for the idea: the floor and walls can be cleaned.

The floor is actually soil for plants. It's kind of: indoor garden, old people style.

To the left is a washing machine and a hand washing station.

Hi Sophie, I rather like the pictures on your clipboards and how you have your tools...busy but organised...is that your preferred style to help focus on a task, to amuse, or perhaps encourage creative thought? Start by checking out "study nooks" on Houzz to see what ideas appeal to you - look at what has been done to create the feel of the space... you have a lot of options with your nook and whether you opt for paint, wallpaper, material, a collage, where you place items etc will depend on the specific style needed to help you study and what else you do in that room as well as your budget and how much time and effort you put into planning and implementing it. Copper will certainly richly complement black, and painting a wall is straightforward if permitted, but realise (for future changes) that it takes many coats of a lighter colour to effectively cover up an existing dark colour (even if possible). Also be aware that trims such as the white shelves, brackets, corkboard surrounds etc will add to the overall effect. So, for example covering the corkboard with paper or material in a complementary or matching colour may help tie it in to your theme. When you have narrowed the choices a little, take another photo with your copper pieces included and repost. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone, I'd like to thank you all for your input. Have been a busy spring and summer, but now I'm back and able to focus on the living room. Couple of things have been done/removed since lately: 1. Leather lounge set: I've (luckily) sold the leather lounge set - absolutely great piece with great quality, but not my taste at all. It made a world difference to the living room and even dear hubby, who liked the set, did acknowledge that the difference of less furnitures is great. 2. The rug 3. The white cabinet 4. New curtains with pelmet I love the pelmet although it's old style and yes, the curtains are too short! Will amend this at later stage :) These changes have made a huge impact on the room. Also, I'm also open to change the dining table with chairs for another nice option in an attempt to make this more interesting/cozy/inviting. So, these are the only things that I won't be able to change (we may (note on may) also move house by the end of this year/early next year) # Blinds # Colour of trims and built-in bookcase # Camel back sofa - I'm happy to reupholster it though and change the fabric. This will cost $2000 but I think it's worth it since they are really comfortable and are of good quality. I'd like to integrate the white frame with the gold poster in the design - an idea is to place 3x posters on the biggest wall of the air conditioner. I'm aware that a brown frame may suit the gold poster better, but I'm so tired of the colour brown at this moment. --------- So, I now feel I'm able to adjust as per your suggestions and recommendations much easier now. Appreciate every response and idea (And sorry for the mess of papers on the desk and floor! We're busy professionals and sometimes I have to let my husband have his creative space despite my OCD when it comes to decluttering and keeping it tidy)

In my early twenties I designed kitchens for my mother and two aunts (Uncle built them and they worked), but when it came to designing my own - had to fit a constrained space and no possibility of extension - I chewed my lips for ages - like Nicole, I drew and measured ad infinitum, and used graph book walls, views etc. I did one extra thing - which I think worked - I listed all that I wanted to store, and tried to analyse how I liked working in the kitchen. Some things I had to settle for because of space (such as a smaller dishwasher) but most of it has worked. We have a corner pantry, which I (and the cat, husband a bit larger) can walk into, but have not put small appliances in there - they sit in a large drawer beneath the main working bench, which also works well. It all looks good to me Nicole and thinking carefully about needs and how things work in advance usually results in something you'll be happy with. Good luck!

Hi, use the cat as inspiration because its colours are beautiful - (a black white and tan rug would add a little wow) and its hair will blend in too. Next just add in small touches of a green you like and more of the base colours in rugs, throws, cushions etc. As for furniture if you follow decor trends it is now the thing to NOT have matching furniture sets in the bedroom but the trick is to link everything through colour. I suggest a picture rest shelf (Bunnings) running along the back wall above the bed at eye level. Pictures (and a mirror) and bits and bobs are then on one level, look intentionally placed, keep things tidy and out of reach of little hands and you can mix and swap as seasons and events change. Plants yes, they give colour and life, then a bit of wicker/rattan or other texture in plant bases, a chair or foot stools at the end of the bed. Some nice green glass vases or candle holders etc. etc. Easy changes that allow you to save for when you want to do your big reno. I would spend your big money getting rid of the strip lighting above the bed and adding nice floaty sheer curtains.

The problem is that my sister and I can't agree on a style. So we agree to let you make the decision for us. Can you draw and upload your suggestions? I want to use it as a sitting area, a workspace, or anywhere I can stand. Simply lay the floor and hang artificial plants on the wall. My sister prefers to keep the plant in the soil. I kind of agree because of the low cost. So, could you help us imagine the outcome by uploading a drawing or some photos?

Some deas. Using vertical space by using hanging baskets or shelves to place plants will free up floor space. Putting plants in pots allows you to take them outside to get some extra sunlight Add some timber elements to up the natural feel. If planting in ground backfill with pebbles. And ensure the soil is appropriately conditioned before you plant and has adequate drainage. Given how titght the pace is I would use pots. Remember function of space as bathroom laundry study and walkway should come before how it looks.
