New Build Bathroom Tiling

Hello, I am fortunate enough to be building a new two storey home, and I have two ensuites, one bathroom and three toilets. I have built a home about 14 years ago and the trend at the time to cut costs was to tile behind the toilet and have one tile high as skirting. I am building my forever home, however the tile upgrade costs are really high. I'll be using the same floor tile on the walls and it is a light grey concrete look 600 x 300 tile. I'm just wondering what my options will be to pull off a high end quality look for the home, that isn't going to blow the budget, that is going to look okay. I'm also worried that if I do just go with the tile to full height it may look too much.

Any suggestions? I can't visualise anything so it makes it hard for me!

The current trend isn’t for full height tiling throughout the entire bathroom although you do still see it and it can look very good when done well. If you have trouble visualising then even project builders like Metricon and Simonds do their display homes to a high standard. If you can’t visit them in person, you can stalk them on the internet. There are also many many bathroom pics here on Houzz but far less from recent times.

rhyzar perhaps send through a larger floor plan please so this all can be understood/analysed in context? how far along is the project? Good ideas here however it's assuming capacity for changing/taking over passage/access to what appears to be leading down another passage at the top of the page? Or am I missing something? Another way to do this without completely taking over passage space is to flip the powder over to the external wall which would enable natural light into it. I'd also vote for a double basin set-up. This isn't a layout issue it is an infrastructure and planning issue. The key question is what is directly below this room? Is it your flat? or is it somebody else's flat? Or a Carpark owned by the body corporate? Be sure you know IF the sewage/waste can be piped through your floor and connected to the main sewer line BEFORE you start even thinking about the layout. Just a random search of luxury builders in Perth, I have screen shot their latest display homes. Tiling in bathrooms in most displays, that I looked at, have definitely reduced the tiled area. Or you could have a feature tile only on one wall, 3rd photo, Or you could have walls completely tiled , as per the last photo. But why, what function does complete wall tiling have for using the bathroom? The only walls that need full tiling, and only to a 2000mm height line, is the shower area.

it is more about interest and texture than tiling all walls to the ceiling. Maybe, One fully tiled wall only as a feature, but not the entire bathroom/ensuite. I think builders and people paying for the tiles and installation, have realised that it is not economically viable or visually better for all full walls to be tiled.
