Depends on where bedrooms/studys are, what sort of things will be done in the rumpus room. Do you need to supervise the kids in the rumpus, etc.. Its more about how you live in a house and will use a space rather than what works for others. Be really 'cut throat' with decisions and question yourself of why you need it. A rumpus room has dropped out of 'fad/fashion' and seems to be replaced with 'media' rooms. Just as 'formal dining room's' have gone almost completely....... Do we really need extra rooms when we could have rooms able to be used for more than one purpose.

Growing up our house was so small, we only had the lounge room which had a tv. A rumpus room was something added on! In the house we have now the closed off room which contains tv and all super electronic stuff is called the tv room. I cannot bring myself to call it the home theatre as I think that's hilarious. We also have the room connected to dining and kitchen which is usually termed family room. Then we have downstairs which is termed man cave but cringe at that because it sounds ummmm bogan. Hope no one feels offended haha :-) It is a bit embarrassing though, we have a house with two people and five televisions and we hardly watch them!

Some storage like this from ikea that you can paint or decorate to suit theme. I You can get large or small boxes. Little Kids love to put things in and out of boxes and it can help keep things tidier, plus give you somewhere to pop a drink etc. Add a floor cushion or two. A little tepee can be great too. You need to determine how much space you want for each use. Also functionally, do you want the laundry closer for ease of access or further. Then where are the views. When in office or playroom what can you see outside windows. With laundry do you want to include a door to reduce noise of washing machine in playroom.
