Are dark colours in a hallway a durable option with kids in the house. I was hoping if I used a low sheen paint it would be fine? Love to hear your views.
I would never use paint on walls that has any kind of sheen. Most paints are washable these days even the matt option. I also wouldn't go for dark colours, but then I am in the white and bright phase of life. I've done the dark colours way back when and don't want to return there. That being said if you want to use darker hues you should consider how much natural light there is, if any and whether it will work with you adjoining rooms.
I dont know your personal style, but I would stay with a light color in the hallway to keep it bright because If you have the wall space, hallways are a great spot to display the family photos/ art in a gallery style and a color wont distract your eye from them. As far as the paint itself , I also had your idea( 4 kids myself). Years ago RL paint had a catalog with a hallway that was painted the same color ( a light gray) and the upper half or 1/4 was a flat finish paint and the lower was a satin or other. Great solution for kids with sticky fingers. It looked great!
