Hi MJ, what a sweet cottage. I'd go for a thermal roller blind in the kitchen as it'll allow you to get your views and light, privacy of an evening and help maintain heat inside in winter - they're also easier to keep dusted roman blinds. In the bedroom, I'd go for a double railing with sheers that let light in during the day and then thermal and block out curtains to pull across of an evening. You would be able to pick up continuous thermal or block out curtains at Spotlight/Lincraft fairly cheaply - I like the continuous as you can have your curtains as full as you like). I wouldn't worry about lined curtains again as they're just far heavier and a pain in the butt with the amount of dust that both layers of fabric collect. I've got the thermal continous curtains in our bedrooms and have machine washed them and they were far less trouble when I was hemming them. In terms of thermal efficiency of your windows look at secondary glazing options - Magnetite, Ecoglaze and Justrite off options that you might find worth looking at (beats pulling out windows and replacing them).

Snap. We have the same art deco fitting (from your WIR) in our front hallway. We have a Federation home but the last owner regularly modernised it after he & his young family moved in in the 1950's so we have all sorts of eclectic stuff going on. I also know how hard it is to find the right light fitting, we have a c.1970's saucer like fitting in our tv room (courtesy of the last owners modernising) that I detest but it's still there because I can't find anything quite right for the space. Have included some pics of light fittings that might (???) work for your bedroom....

Yes, I was hoping that they would post photo on here, as they have a lot of beautiful bathrooms on this site, but it is a recent one, so they havent posted yet and I think they will be closed over this period, when a lot of sales are on...I have sold my car yesterday and so now have the funds to finally get my bathroom reno progressed...yay!

Looking at your lighting plan, it isn't not enough lights, it is where they are positioned. The three lights above island should be spaced directly above island for task lighting. Your plan has them across the kitchen, the same as other three in the middle of the kitchen. If you look at the photos that have been posted with pendant lights, they are all positioned over the island bench, not spread over ceiling. Hope your choice of lighting works well.
