Comments (29)I would place the sofa in front of the fireplace and armchairs either side. Pur a colourful throw over the back of the sofa or add a console at the back of the sofa to add interest. While the sofa loses some of the open plan look, you need to be functional unless you have a TV room. The bookcase will add a real warmth. If you use swivel armchairs, you can swivel to watch TV or swivel to face the sofa when just talking. We have these and they are very functional....See MoreI need help to rearrange the furniture and decorate the living room
Comments (24)I would declutter to much is going on in this room. I love the blue chair maybe you can add some nice candles on the coffee table and books and the throw should not be in the middle of the couch probably different colour through maybe the same colour as the blue chairs. Also get rid of the side table and add maybe a plant and also get rid of the mirror in the corner....See MoreAwkward living room - furniture placement help please
Comments (4)I think you need to change your thinking from 'living room', to 'generously sized entry hall' as you have so many doors and walkways through this space it's hard to imagine it will be a cozy TV nook. I would place a pair of comfortable armchairs towards the corner to the stairs with a round rug to help create a zone within the space, while still allowing a flow around the space for people entering the house. You might also have a side table and ottoman to complete the grouping. Good luck...See MoreConfused regarding furniture for living room?
Comments (7)I'd take a more 'logical' approach . first question -- how many people live there , and how many will want to watch TV or talk at any one time ? In other words , do you need seating for 7 ? Do you have any other furniture for this room ? I'd be inclined to start with either a 3 seater and 2 chairs ( especially if the matching 2 seater is relatively easily vailable i.e. are you buying from a larger chain store ? ) . Otherwise get the matching couches , and see how often you need to bring chairs in from the dining or similar . And I'm a big fan of wallpapered feature walls -- they add colour , interest and texture IMO if done well , moreso than anything else $ for $ ....See Moreabbyjean
