Hi! We are about to replace our guttering with Colorbond guttering. I am thinking of a Charcoal Grey. We will be getting the house rendered within 5 years. Do you think the grey would work?
Hi! It depends on what your roof colour/material is and also what colour you are planning to render it. Rendering it will create a job for life for you though! are you planning to do something with the aluminium windows as well?
Charcoal grey often works nicely to "calm down" bright coloured brickwork like this, and if you just painted the brown bricks under the windows a charcoal grey too, it might be enough to bring the orangeness down a notch. top it all off with some charcoal grey and white stripe awning blinds and it will be a retrochic classic :)
I wouldn't render makes walls look too bland. Costs a lot to do and then you have maintenance such as painting. Spend money elsewhere such as landscaping.
I agree with MB Design and Drafting in that you shouldn't render brickwork as it removes the character of the house, and you end up with a sad, bland house that was trying to look modern (and failed). The orange brick work is quite a strong colour so I would look to counterbalance with some dirty green/greys such as Woodland Grey or Mangrove. Some lush, leafy landscaping will also work wonders to counterbalance the intensity of the orange.
Thanks you everyone for your wonderful advice. Ended up going for the Monument and painting the brown bricks same colour. Even thought not finished really happy with how it is looking!
Looks great, why not trim off the scallop off your outside blinds this adds a more modern look, and paint them monument as well, we painted ours using a roller , been done quite a few years now and still look good.
