Exterior Colour Scheme Help
Comments (7)Thanks for all the feedback! I was leaning towards keeping the original roof colour, to be honest it was my partner who wanted to consider other colours. So these comments have mainly assured me the original is ok! A brown would have been my 2nd choice. The challenge will be hiding the new mis matched tiles. I hadn't thought having the roof painted would require extra maintenance in future as it is already painted concrete tiles. My last house was the same and pressure washing it removed alot of original paint, leaving it patchy. So ended up getting that one repainted. That house was 10 yrs older though. I feel like painting the driveway would require more maintenance, but I would love to get it done properly to tone down all that orange! And yes one day soon a new garage door would be good too! I've thought about bringing brown/timber into the exterior but am scared there will be too many different colours going on if i dont do it right! So the decision on painting the roof (the same/ similar colour) after tiles are replaced is on hold for now as we are looking at adding an extension with 2nd storey at the back. If that happens we will want the new roof to match the existing. (I think!) Thanks for the ideas, much to think about!...See MoreEXTERIOR COLOUR SCHEME WITH SHALE GREY ROOF
Comments (9)Thanks Deborah. I can see the colours much better now. So my first thoughts are that if you don't wish to highlight the windows too much then you don't want too dark a shade for the homes wall exterior as the darker the wall paint colour then the more the windows will stand out. The shale grey roof is more on the blue tone side of the colour spectrum and the windows are more on the warm side, but only slightly. So to tie everything together I would recommend a warm beige/grey like Dulux Limed White, Ghosting or Powered Rock....See MoreExternal colour scheme - seeking advice
Comments (2)Pop onto the Pintrest app and search “weatherboard exterior”. You will see 100s of examples to inspire you. I love Basat. It’s a great colour. Not sure how it would work with dark blue. Finalise the roof colour first as there are more limited options for roofing paint. Then choose the wall colour....See MoreRecommendations on exterior colour scheme for 1950's weatherboard
Comments (4)Firstly , you want something that you like , that suits the area and the climate and the vibe , so some of our suggestions are just guesses , modulated by our preferences , so take this more as a discussion , not a set-in-stone outline . Normally my ears prick up when I hear someone say they don't mind something a bit out-there , but I don't think this place wants to be or needs to be -- I'd embrace the era , and go with a 50's soft blue or apricot or mint green . The base boards then could be a more mainstream blue or orange or forest green -- not super bright shades of those , but about 3 times the brightness of the main tone , not 6 or 8 times , if that makes sense . They'd all look good with the white trim , and I personally would have gone for a stronger roof colour , but its pretty neutral so its easy to work with , and won't offend anyone haha . And the fence -- almost certainly a charcoal black stained wooden fence . Within 6 months , as your house starts looking attached to the site , so will the fence fade and weather and not look 'newly done' ....See Moredreamer
