Kitchen sinks: Is bigger always better?
Comments (12)Most sinks are too shallow rather than too deep. The depth is where you really have to know how much room you need as well as overall size. Maybe I'm too tall...lol. But it is one of my pet peeves to see shallow sinks in a kitchen. Here is an ideabook on sink depth that might help with your decision. Comments (24)Having lived for years with a front loader in the kitchen under counter and now with a good sized laundry I am resenting the laundry for the space it wastes! I would rather have a "european solution" and a good en-suit and walk in :) really it is a matter of how you want to live, in reality if you spend your life considering resale you won't enjoy your home, prospective purchasers will love or hate whatever you do, those that don't want a space solution will be the ones who want the big ensuite and robe anyway! Do it with love then others will love it too, good luck...See MoreBigger shower or bigger vanity - Help!
Comments (27)Having helped my mother in law with her shower room (she has MS) and helping a friend who just broke her leg ... the bigger shower is a great decision, but I wouldn't build in a bench. down the track if she needs to sit to shower, she will probably need a shower chair with arms to lower herself up and down and to be able to move it around if someone is helping her shower. then anyone else showering can just take it out and enjoy the bigger shower!...See MoreWould you rather? Comments (12)No.1 would have to be solar panels to pay for the cost of running all these new toys. Luke, seriously, we all claim to be green these days and are concerned about our planet and the environment but have we really stopped to think how "green" these toys are? We are becoming like kids at Christmas with them. These toys are all predominantly plastic, just like kids toys, they break we throw away except with adult toys their shelf life is as long as it takes for the next bigger and better model to come out. Emphasis these days is all about making our lives easier but all these labour saving devices are not making things easy for our environment. It is almost a joke that a plastic water bottle takes twice as much water to make than the liquid it holds. We are all proud of ourselves when we recycle but how many of us have actually followed what really happens with our recycling - how much energy and water is required in the recycling process, how much of it is actually reused? We are recycling more product than we have use for - what happens to the excess?? The more of these toys that keep coming, the more excess waste we will have. I read this some years ago and with findings now coming to light, it is obvious things are getting worse faster than we can control them. http://www.worldwatch.org/global-plastic-production-rises-recycling-lags-0 Lets keep technology for the important things - medical science or making our world safer ............. not wiping it out with rubbish....See Moreoklouise
