Peek Inside a UK Interior Designer’s Stylish Tudor Home

In this episode of Houzz TV Live, UK interior designer Emma Merry gives a virtual tour of the spaces she’s recently updated in her Tudor home. A hard-working laundry features bespoke storage, including a dedicated cabinet to store and charge a vacuum cleaner. She also installed a heated towel rail to help dry everything from bedding to trainers. Wood-effect tiles in a chateau pattern add style.

In the once-dark hallway, Emma replaced a wall with glass doors to bring in more light and put the emphasis on several original solid oak doors with cast-iron hardware. Pull-out units beneath the stairs add storage for shoes for the family of four. Wallpaper on Emma’s home office ceiling and accenting one of her son’s bedroom walls gives a playful touch to the elegant home.

Thank you for sharing your renovation. I am about to buy a house that has so many downlighters and coving in the ceilings downstairs which I hate. It is going to be quite a job to remove them and replaster the ceilings. The floors are oak which I will keep. I t is a small small so want as much light as possible. I didn't quite catch in the video what you did to the ceilings ? Was it white painted wood ?

Thank you, for your messages please see below:

The flooring was LVT from amtico, in dark chocolate.

The ceilings are the original, we added in ornate ceiling roses to some of the bedrooms to put back the original features

Doors in the hallway are aluminium by a company called Aluco.

"Pullout drawers beneath a staircase", what a useful and great idea! Nicely done. Also, the replacement of a wall with glass doors in a narrow hall way, something I thought doing at my home.
