I like the steps, with top one wide enough to be tanning ledge

is there a benefit to putting rocks in the catch basin? Seems like it would be harder to clean, but would prevent catch basin from being a drowning hazard... or goat water trough?

Very much like what I'm picturing... simple, no frills, concrete... but I'd definitely want to incorporate landscaping to prevent it from looking drab

different angle of previous. This is probably the most accurate photo of what "phase 2" would be; the pool and surrounding concrete with little else added.

Another possibility is turning the pool long ways for a shorter vanishing edge, but need for retaining walls/extra dirt on the sides of the pool might offset savings of shorter vanishing edge.

Turning long ways would also allow for more landscaping on the sides, but there's less water on the "horizon" and doesn't have quite the same visual impact as vanishing edge turned horizontal.

I do like how rocks are incorporated just into the retaining edges of this pool, allows for a visual break from all the concrete and straight lines.
