Hi Daniel, the problem is that there are too many cowboys out there attempting to build green roofs with little to no experience. These people are the ones giving Green Roofs a bad name. I can not stress enough how important it is to make sure the roof is waterproofed properly and that the roof has the ability to support the additional weight loading. These people make it seem to others so hard and complex, when in reality when you engage companies such as ours who provide the complete service to carry our licensed works that are guaranteed to perform.

Chris I think it's a wonderful message you're spreading about green roofs. We just need them to be a mandatory requirement for future and current building compliance, not unlike a setback, door width or regulatory window heights. Change, is the paramount question. How do we get building laws changed for the better? Rather than after a death or tragedy for something that wasn't compliant in the first place. Go green.

Great article. I working towards an extension and renovation of an old cottage. I’d love a green roof... but as u say ... it will need to be a planned affair. Which is fine, naturally.
