Why do people think that just because you are retired you need to 'down size'. Our children have been long gone, but now we have 4 grand children and 2 husbands. Our house of 40 years was really stretched when the family came for a family dinner or Christmas. Our front door was not obvious so to address these problems we extended our kitchen and dining room. The solution has made an incredible difference to our lives. We had saved bricks over the year, our builder sourced old tiles to match our existing ones and we only had to purchase one sliding window and glass front door. The whole extension cost around $30K. Including all the permits and assessments required with living in a bushfire region. We started the process in January 2014 and it was completed in November 2014. We are just about to do the floor, but that is because we couldn't decide on what floor to go for until now. We love the space as you feel Like you are sitting in the garden. One of the lovely ideas we had was to install led lights outside to light up the garden at night, it's just magic. Here are a couple of photos
