Hygge Culture - I wonder if jmpjmp was just asking - in a not very clear way - how exactly those towers of books 'work'? It's something I've wondered, because I haven't happened to see one in a shop.

They look like a stack of books. Obviously, with a stack of books, if you want a book in the middle or at the bottom, you have to remove all the books on top of it to take the book you want.

My question is, how does such a shelf function? You say it's 'very functional,' but because it is also counter-intuitive-looking, it's not clear how it functions. Can you explain?

On another topic, reading about 'hygge culture' fills my heart with a longing for exactly that - 'hygge.' Isn't it strange that what must really be a universal longing -creating a warm atmosphere; enjoying the 'good' with other people - has no term in English or other cultures? I find that mysterious, and somehow sad. Good luck with your venture in making wood furniture (the console is beautiful; I want to run my hands over it). I hope that you are able to introduce both the word and the concept of 'hygge' into American culture. If any culture needed it, it's American culture.

I had to go back to find the "tower" and had missed it completely. I think it's a perfect spot, never needs to be moved and is arranged so nicely it is almost like a sculpture. Adorable place you have and do you find it always looks like this because it's so small everything needs to be in it's place or do you sometimes mess it up a little? Come on, you can tell us. ;) As for the one drawer rule, I always had trouble until I read, here on Houzz I believe, about the one touch rule. It has worked wonders for me and I'm working on my husband. If anyone wants to know about it let me know.
