In the fashion world denim is timeless, a classic wardrobe staple that adds a youthful edge to every outfit. But does it have the same cool factor when it comes to furnishings? Take a look at how these homes have used this iconic fabric, and decide for yourself. We think even the anti-denim brigade will be converted.
Blue on blue
Often associated with calm and order, blue is a good colour to use generously throughout your home. For a cool, bohemian take on the trend, mix in tie-dye, ikats and hand-blocked materials.

From cornflower blue on the walls to dark navy bedding, varying hues will help to break up an all-blue room. If you feel like you’ve overdosed on indigo, introduce touches of white, cream and black, sticking with a lighter hue on the walls to make the space feel larger.
Well grounded
Casual and playful, denim patchwork inspires a 1970s mood. Start collecting scraps for a fun DIY project – what better way to recycle your old jeans than by making a stylish, one-off rug for your home.

Layered textures
Denim pairs well with other tactile, natural materials such as linen and wool, and a little can go a long way. Cushions are an easy and affordable way to dip into the trend and achieve a range of textures.

Tip: With a little creativity, you can always find a use for leftover fabric. Long, delicate cuttings can be transformed into contemporary curtains, while small swatches lend themselves to a unique piece of artwork.
Pattern play
A few accent pieces featuring vibrant prints can bring personality to a larger denim piece. Try patterns of different kinds on cushions, rugs or a lounge throw – the bolder the better.

Think beyond fabric
Adding a touch of denim to your interiors doesn’t just mean cotton. These indigo-hued shower tiles evoke a cool and calm vibe from floor to ceiling.

Go coastal
Just like your jeans, denim interiors can be dressed up or down to suit your style. For a relaxed look, mix in nautical touches such as rope detailing and beach-combing finds to make your abode feel like a holiday house.

Cool kids
Denim is a dream in children’s rooms. A great go-to for spaces that are prone to mess and spills, it makes a practical addition when used for blankets, throws or a floor rug. The hardwearing cotton twill is easy to clean and does a great job of disguising stains.

Tip: Some denim manufacturers have recycling initiatives that transform secondhand and unused products into home furnishings. If you can’t track down one of these eco-conscious buys, why not breathe new life into your old, unworn jeans with a summer DIY project?

Casual corner
Hardwearing and versatile, denim is a great choice for furniture that sees a high volume of traffic such as sofas and armchairs. Like the perfect pair of jeans, a denim lounge is the ideal foundation for creating a personalised style.

Tip: In addition to choosing a stain-disguising dark denim, machine-washable removable seat covers are also a great option for the kitchen and dining rooms where there’s a high chance of food spills.

Don't mind the denim as a decorating style although heavy blue is tricky colour to tie into a livable decor.
My gripe with denim is that it is the lazy persons default fashion wear and very few people look good in it (make that no one). If blue is a difficult colour to decorate with, then denim/blue is doubly difficult to dress with.
When ever I see people wearing denim I feel that they could have looked so much better in something classier and better suited to their colouring and personality.
Apart from that I don't have an opinion.
I dress very particularly to the occasion/environment/activity. Very classy when I'm dining out, at the opera, theatre or shopping.
Playing with children at the park?
Jeans and a floaty tee.
Denim and I mean denim clothing...for most of us is a useful option.
Decorating with blues in all their shades is also-for many of us-a no brainer!!
