Kitchen and Dining Room Inspriation

Something about the hood over the stove appeals to me. I like the way the soffit, high ceiling, upper cabs, and hood blend together.

Q

Photo

The beading at the edge of the panel of the doors is nice. It make them a little more special that the shaker-style . . .

Use this photo of the kitchen corner to visualize what you want in your kitchen. (This is pic #2, same corner, different angle.)

Use this corner counter to visualize what you want in your kitchen (See next Pic, same kitchen, different angle.)

Q

I am really intrigued by this pull-out. I wonder if it could work to replace an inside corner? I also like the exposed beams in the ceiling. It adds character to the room, and a little definition from the other spaces, without physical barriers.

Stash It All: Know the 3 Zones of Kitchen Storage

Q

Photo

Nice example of a rounded corner, subtle, but much easier on the hips and legs of those who must walk around in a small area!

Q

Photo

Floor time would make a nice backsplash accent behind stove. Blue on vanity might work for island colors.

Kitchen of the Week: White, Wood and Blue Perk Up Tudor Style

Q

Really, really like this kitchen/dining room make-over. The kitchen is practical, warm, and simple. There is lots of storage, but it is not cluttered. The dining area is separate, but not closed off. I would like to borrow lots of these ideas for our space, but not sure how.

Q

Photo

Really nice storage in the dining area. cute window above the space.

Q

Photo

The banquette is a nice way to increase space in the dining room. I like how it is paneled behind the seats.

Q

Photo

Nice idea for dish storage.

Q

Photo

I like the curve of the banquette, and how it goes along the side of the kitchen peninsula.

Q

Photo

Not my colors. But, the banquette looks to be well built. angled back, angles below the seat, and the windows are above the seat back, so no risk of broken glass!

Q

Photo

Again. nice bay window design, with a banquette.

Q

Photo

Oh, very cottagey. How sweet! Love the blue and white!

Q

Photo

Really like these colors. Not sure where to use them, but they make me smile. Also, like the wood floor and table.

Q

Photo

Nice view of what a banquette set in a small bay window, adjacent to a kitchen counter would look like.

Q

Photo

Simple, but useful. size and shaping are nice. Colors, too stark for my tastes.

Q

Photo

Note sure what is it about this one that speaks to me, but I like it.

Q

Photo

LIke the proportions of window to seat back . . .

Q

Photo

Nice overall placement. Good to see what a small banquette looks like abutted against a kitchen counter.

Q

Photo

Nice idea to place the banquette in a bay window. But, there is no place to lean back. I would want to place the window higher, so as not to risk breaking through the glass . . .

Q

Photo

Also like the curve of this banquette, and the corner display shelves above. Also might work for the ADU. Not sure about the colors.

Q

Photo

I like the shaping of this corner banquette. Might be nice in the ADU

Q

Photo

I like this idea of a pass-through window from the kitchen to the outside. Don't know if we will every be able to use it, but it is nicely done in this view.

Q

Photo

Nice idea, to use the wainscotting top rail as a handrail.

Q

Photo

I like the overall color scheme of this room, wood and white. I also like how the ceiling has a flat wood trim that hints of wood beams, but does not take up much space. This is wood beams for an 8- foot ceiling!!!.

Q

Photo

I also like the general layout of the kitchen. Make the peninsula an island, and put the dining room on the side where the door to the outside is, and it could work for us. I like the way the cabinets on top look in the corner by the range.

Q

Nice color combinations. But, fllip the colors on the cupboards and the island. Blue for the island, and oak for the cabinets.

Q

Photo

Good visual for wood cabinets, and wood-colored floor (although, this one looks like concrete) but I think it would look better if the backsplash were another material. But that is just my personal taste. Nice counter

Q

Photo

Love this idea for banquette and storage in the corner for informal dinging area

Q

Photo

Interesting idea for a banquet under the windows for this informal dining room.

Q

Photo

I really like the look, feel of this separation between two rooms, but, again, the white paint hides the details. I would love to use something like this to divide some of the spaces of our house.

Q

Photo

I like the waiscotting and woodwork in this house, but the white paint hides it too well. I wonder what Ron would think of this?

Q

Photo

Something about this appeals to me. The symphony of wood, and the simplicity of design, perhaps?

Q

Photo

What a great idea for a small broom closet. It would be nice to have a small space like this to hide the broom and swifer

Q

Photo

Nice cabinets, nice wood beams on the ceiling, nice balance of white, wood, and some color

Q

Photo

I like the look of the windows and doors for the dining nook.

Q

Photo

Nice color combinations

Q

Photo

Tile Ideas Nice simple framed mosaic over the stove Island Ideas I like how the seating goes around the corner on this island. Also, there is storage accessed behind the stool, also a nice idea.

Q

Photo

The profiles on the cabinet doors are quite nice. Not quite shaker, there is an extra beaded detail. I think Ron would like this. He says the shaker ones are a little too stark, or something like that. I don't like the inset doors--expensive and harder to clean. Can this profile, or something similar be done with full overlay doors?

Q

Photo

I like the ceiling details above the dining table. simple white ceiling with stained, mid-tone wood beams.

Q

Photo

I like many aspects of this kitchen. Ceilings with beams to define space, simple tile backsplash, wood cabinets and floor, sunny space.

Q

Photo

Bungalo style, with a nod to arts and crafts

Q

Photo

I love how this bay of windows brings in lots of light to the kitchen. Could we do something like this at the eating side of the great room?

Q

Photo

Next Pic. Counter is gray

Q

Photo

Next Pic of same kitchen

Q

Photo

Something like this?

Q

Photo

I don't know what it is about this kitchen, but I find it very appealing, even though it doesn't have several of the elements that we want.

Q

Photo

Color combination Blue and wood cabinets, white walls, neutral counter. It works pretty well. Floor is too busy for me. With my progressive glasses, I would think I was going to trip on something.

Q

Photo

Island ideas Nice way to include deep storage for seasonal items, yet also have seating . . .

Q

Photo

something about the colors resonates for me.

Q

Photo

Island ideas Color inspiration. Just imagine a slightly duller color to the counter-top.

Q

Photo

Island ideas. How would this look, if the other cabinets were oak? and the ceiling were white?

Q

Photo

I like the shape of the arches, and the wood finish of the supporting pillars. I think the blue is too bright for my taste, though

Q

Photo

I like the combination of high windows and lower shelves. This might be a solution for our wall facing the neighbor's kitchen.

Q

Photo

Island Ideas I love this color of blue. If I could, I would use this for the kitchen island. Truly blue, but not too dark, but dark enough to hide scuff marks.

Q

Photo

Island Ideas What about a blue island, with wood cabinets around the perimeter?

Q

Photo

Backsplash Detail Note the simple, but pretty detail behind the stove. Very nice! It is even blue and white! Island ideas Would a blue island work for our kitchen? Or would it be too much color/detail?

Q

Photo

Island Ideas See how the seating area is supported by corbels, and has storage behind. I like this ideas.

Q

Photo

Kitchen Sink w/out window It is nice to see how a kitchen sink without a window over it looks like. It is rare. They have done a nice job of it.

Q

Photo

Kitchen Cab I like how the full-height pantry at the end of the run helps define the kitchen space in the great room. It also sets off the eating nook from the kitchen.

Q

Photo

Windows in the Kitchen

Q

Photo

Pantry Nice door idea

Q

Photo

Dining Room I really love the look of the shelves around the window, but don't t have the space in our house to do this anywhere.

Q

Photo

Corner Ideas I like the corner desk. don't know if a good match for what we want.

Q

Photo

Kitchen Layout Like this option for the corner with the window. Shallow counter allows better access. Nice place for glass-front doors. Concern: would the corner be a hip-bumper? Could the bump-out to the standard depth be curved or angles to provide less of a bruise?

Q

Photo

Tile Patterns and Island Ideas LIke the tile for the stove backsplash. Instead of a nook, it could be a special large format tile, or something. ( We could possibly use the same tile trim for the tile "carpets" used in the front and back entries.) Nice example of dark blue Island contrasted with brown floor.

Q

Photo

Island Ideas The island is a different color from the main set of cabinets. Do we want to try this?

Q

Photo

Colors I like the look of the dark navy in the middle of the white/cream walls and wood floor.

Q

Photo

KItchen Sink without a window. I like this one, and it looks as if the window is to the left, similar to my proposed layout.

Q

Photo

Kitchen or Dining Room Decorative Storage It is earthquake safe, and pretty at the same time.

Q

Photo

Floor Plan - Window and Cab. What if the stove were the sink? And the window were smaller, and the stove were just to left of where the sink is shown in the photo? That would be similar to what I am thinking of . . . then just add in the island from the other kitchen, May be I need to think about this some more.

Q

Photo

Cab. Layout Look at the shapes, and the layout, not the color. Like the symmetry of the cabinets on each side of the stove.

Q

Photo

Floor Plan - Window and Cab. An thinking of a similar position for our kitchen window, but smaller. Wanted to see what it looks like to have a window in close proximity to cabinets. Like the open and closed effect near the window.

Q

Photo

Pantry Ok, I wondered what this would look like, I think it is better to have the microwave in the kitchen proper.

Q

Photo

Pantry This would work nicely in the Dining area--doors should be solid. Nice to see what bypass slider doors look like on a reach-in type pantry.

Q

Photo

Pantry Simple, but effective

Q

Photo

Island Design I like how the corner of the counter is rounded to help protect from bruised hips.
