Whenever a new client approaches me to redo their bathroom, I look through their idea book to get a feel of whether they have considered the aging process in their design ideas. I then guide them on how to incorporate their current desires, with their future age demands in order to come up with designs that can serve them well even in their later years.

I look at bathrooms with an eye on how difficult they will be to use and clean. Twin sinks? I like privacy in the bathroom and that's an extra sink to clean. Wall mounted toilets and cabinets with feet? Hard to clean underneath. Shower doors and fixture placement that force you to get into the shower to turn on the water? I don't like getting sprayed with cold water. No hand-held spray makes it hard to rinse down the shower when it is cleaned. Marble floors? Very slippery when wet! Small mirrors, especially two small mirrors over individual sinks. Retro pedestal sinks that have no counter space and necessitate cleaning up the gunk that collects on the base.

jmfdesign2, agree with all u said except a wall hung toilet that doesn't touch the floor is actually easier to clean than a regular toilet or a wall hung that is also attached to the floor. I will also add that door openings into a master bath should be 36" wide if there is room in the space.
