Hi everyone just read the posts and wanted to add, splash back windows are not used as alternative to a feature window I agree completely if there is a view frame and highlight it. Splash back windows are used to introduce natural light at bench level in areas where a full window isn’t desirable. You will see from the photos the view out the window has then been created with fencing treatments and other garden elements. When used this way you get the advantages natural light and a more open feel even if the block space is limited.

Thank you to LSA Architects for expanding on the ribbon windows. I can see how they would be beneficial if the view isn’t great and a degree of privacy is required. However I do remember, in a previous home, I had a similar dilemma but because of the walls proximity to a neighbouring boundary and property building regs restricted the size of the window in meters squared. The reason explained was down to fire safety. I cannot remember the dimensions but it wasn’t all that much. Certainly not as big as the windows in the above photos. I would suggest that it would be prudent to check with building regs before opening up a large expanse of glass in a similar location.
