This collection of newly built and renovated showers uploaded to Houzz over the past year features many great ideas for updating the look of your shower. Whether the bathroom includes a walk-in shower, a shower-tub combo or a wet room, the designers of these spaces turned to tile, wood, fixtures and custom touches to create striking showers across the style spectrum. 1. This bold kids’ bathroom in Salt Lake City features a massive walk-in shower that contains a freestanding tub. The graphic blue-and-white tile covers the floor, the wall and even a portion of the ceiling in this Andrea Wes-designed space.
2. An undulating river of pebble tiles makes a path down the centre of the floor and wall in this renovated walk-in shower in Carmel, California, designed by Kitchen Studio of Monterey Peninsula.

3. A curved alcove in this Sydney bathroom is the ideal location for a walk-in shower. Rush tiled all the bathroom walls and added a glass partition to delineate the shower area.
4. Designer Romilly Turner used jade-green encaustic tiles in the shower and paired them with black-and-white checkered floor tiles to add a punch to this London guest bathroom.
5. This wet room-style bathroom in Paris features lime plaster floors and matte black shower fixtures. Batiik Studio designed the minimalist space.
6. The faded pattern of the wall tiles in this Austin, Texas, shower mimics the look of a vintage kilim rug. The walk-in shower, designed by Elliot Johnson, is behind a partition wall that provides privacy and a sense of openness.
7. Follow the yellow brick road in this Los Angeles bathroom right into the walk-in shower. Belle Hampton Properties added yellow subway tiles to the floor and wall, creating a bold stroke of colour in this otherwise white bathroom.
8. Hexagonal floor tiles and brass fixtures are among the highlights in this beautiful Milwaukee bathroom built by QRS Group. Note how the two shower niches are outlined in brass trim.

9. Graphic floor tiles create a 3D effect in this stylish Chicago bathroom designed by Studio Gild. The red shower fixtures add another bold stroke to this daring space.
10. This sophisticated kids’ bathroom is located in a Massachusetts farmhouse. The shower-tub combo has classic subway tiles covering the walls and tub surround, and penny tiles in the two shower niches. Jess Cooney Interiors designed the space.
11. Stained teak walls and a slatted teak shower deck provide a warm, beachy vibe in this Sydney bathroom designed by Tom Mark Henry. Note the exposed piping and weathered patina of the shower fixture.
12. A skylight brings some natural light into this attic bathroom in London, designed by Mike Tuck Studio Architects. The open shower features a mosaic of penny tiles on the floor that mimics the look of flowers, while the shower walls are covered in pale pink penny tiles.
13. A mosaic of green glass tiles laid in a chevron pattern adds a pop of color to this Sydney bathroom, while another wall covered in shiplap adds a touch of texture. Nimmo Nielsen Collective designed the space.
14. A decorative inlay of white marble inset into the black granite floor tiles helps to delineate the shower area in this Vermont master bathroom built by Birdseye. A solid slab of marble makes up the shower wall, which can be enclosed with the wraparound shower curtain.
15. This sophisticated Toronto bathroom includes smooth lime plaster walls, a shower niche with light blue-grey penny tiles that matches the floor, and a bevy of brass shower heads. Erica Gelman designed the space.
16. Dual shower heads in this contemporary master bathroom in Melbourne, Australia, make for a luxurious experience. The space, designed by GIA Bathrooms & Kitchens, also has a a skylight and a half wall that provides the ideal perch for storing bath products.
17. This renovated bathroom is in a Joseph Eichler-built home in Marin Country, California. The shower has a slatted stained teak deck floor, dual shower heads and a glass door that leads outside.
18. Zigzag-pattern floor tile, matte black fixtures and a custom niche are among the highlights of this New York City bathroom built by ASG Construction Group. Note the custom shower niche that features three floating wood shelves and a mirrored back wall.
19. This elegant Toronto bathroom, built by Timberworx Custom Homes, features black marble tiles, an Art Deco-inspired chandelier and leaded glass windows. The minimalist freestanding tub is situated in front of the glass shower partition, which has openings on both sides.
20. This walk-in shower is tucked behind a half wall in a San Francisco bathroom by Heidi Caillier Design. The shower has stylish gray penny tiles covering the walls, floor and shower niche. The designer used Belgian linen to create the shower curtain.
