Dressed up for Christmas, lounging by the pool or face-deep in the sand, our pets are great sources of love and laughter during the holidays … and, let’s face it, every other month of the year. We asked the Houzz community to share some photos of their fur babies enjoying the festivities and frolicking in the summer sun, and boy did you deliver! Here are some of our favourites to enjoy as we head right on into 2016.
Nothing beats a good summer-ready silhouette! Houzz userspietro sent in this photo of Gus, the Schnocker (schnauzer x cocker spaniel), striking a pose as the sun sets behind him on the family’s farm.
Kim Mizzi says, “Our kitten Nick, thought a tree inside that has shiny bling was too much to resist.” We love this style of furry festive decorating.
“Wally lights up,” saystraceylouisemac. Why didn’t we think of decorating the dog in ourChristmas tree alternativesarticle?
Pet-lover tlc1819 sent in this photo of their dog all dressed up for Christmas. She’s a dog, who looks like a bear, dressed up as a reindeer. What else would her name be but Wolfy?
Annie Noyb’s guinea pigs Chester and Bronwyn got down with their fluffy elf selves this festive season.
megalegend‘s primped pooch rocks the Santa look with laid-back style.
Houzzer rosana61 says, “Emma the GSP (German shorthaired pointer) likes to cool her paws in the pool.” Doggie paddle anyone?
Nicole’s Interior Creations shared a photo of her three toy poodles – Lollypop, Ruby and Pixie – soaking up the sun in her tropical garden. Looks like these girls just got their hair did for the photo op!
“Minnie Dawg… Christmas just wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t dress you up!” says Houzzer cloudpants.
“My furbaby Indie enjoying the sun, surf and sand,” says shado85. Looks like Indie’s trying out a sandy Santa look!
jodig88‘s kitty stands guard over the family’s presents on Christmas Eve …
… laying in wait to see who tries to jump the gun before Christmas morning. “Not on my watch!”
Houzzer Bres and his family added a new bauble to their Christmas wreath: “Schnitzel says ‘Bah humbug – look what they did to me this year!’” We hope this didn’t get hung on the front door…
jusjus says, “Here’s Fonzie waiting for another throw of the ball.” That’s one happy looking cattle dog, jusjus.
Houzz contributor Janet Dunn shared this shot of a slightly more unusual festive pet: “My friend raised Googly the emu from a chick and he wears tinsel at Christmas – you can just see it around his neck,” she says.
“Oh the love and devotion of a dog! There’s nothing quite like it,” says Houzzer myspottyteapot. “Our pug Molly gives us so much joy.”
cronau makes a more formal introduction: “We’d like you to meet Sandy Cronau Soares, better known as The Sandman! A true Queenslander.”
Houzz AU staff writer Emily Hutchinson shared this photo of her family’s much-loved Westie: “Huggy is a big fan of the park in summer.”
pariscafe‘s pooch appeals to Father Christmas for a place on the ‘Nice’ list: “I’ve been a very good boy, Santa!”
rab27 says this is “Spencer arriving home in a basket.” Who doesn’t love a spot of shopping on holidays?
Polla Posavec sent in this pretty pic: “Myself and Millie (3 months) feeling festive on her first Christmas Day.” Matching outfits? Too sweet!
“Our stumpy tail cattle dog Gavin is part of the furniture,” says Houzzer cathybeitz1. Canine footstools, new trend for 2016?
Angela Metcalfe‘s two dogs walk the line at the edge of their family pool: “Foxy and Ted thinking about a swim and checking out the view,” she says.
Elsker Design‘s dog is all decked out for the holidays: “Our furry family member Sergeant Schultz loves lazing by the pool on the sun lounger!” she says.
Krista Why‘s dog Colin cuts a handsome figure while he’s enjoying the view at their local beach … “Is it tip for a dip yet?”
Houzz’s Tony Been says of our favourite Frenchie’s holiday habits, “Crumpet loves arvo naps and sucking her thumb on hot summer days.”
On Dasher, on Dancer on Prancer and … Crumpet?
Natasha Shaw says “Meet my fur-child Riley. He even tested out the pram (unwillingly) before our little guy was born…” Stroll on Riley. Stroll on!
Houzz’s James Pace and Max the beagle say “Fleas Navidad!”
“This is what happens when an 11 year old girl gets a bit too festive …” says Mark Davis Design.
Aneri Ralseic sent in these pictures of her Maltese x Poodle, Sebastien. “He loves to swim and play on the beach,” she says.
And he’s a big fan of Christmas as well. This pooch knows how to have fun!
“Here’s Trublue Cielo surveying the park and the creek,” says Houzzer and pet owner ladyrob1. In true Aussie style, this pup’s all set to slide right into the new year.
Here’s Brett Seriani‘s pretty pup contemplating the meaning of Christmas … and wondering if there are Schmackos in those stockings.
Judy Ryan says, “My gorgeous border collie Miss Molly is taking a dip in her wader pool …
“ … She attends doggie daycare and loves their pool too …”
“ … When she was very little she would just sit in her water bowl. She loves water.” So cute, you could just lap her up!
And for something a little bit more different from cgwallace: “This is our puppy, Ruby, taking a ride on our donkey, Thunder, with Holly. Why walk when you can ride!”
Donna Rosbrook sent in this picture of her “fur children just veging out.” What better way to spend your days off than hanging out with your friends and having a day-long nap?
And they’re not the only ones with this great idea. “Daisy, our 9-year-old Jack Russell cross Chihuahua, loves lazing in front of our bio ethanol fireplace in our master bedroom,” says rna1962. It’s a dog’s life alright.
Finally, markandann‘s lovely Labrador gets in on the act, enjoying a snooze and a snuggle at the same time: “Miss Holly playing big sister to our toddler :)”
