I did eventually go for handles and love them.

My daughter actually went with me to pick my kitchen handles as we were getting to the stage of having to chose them to be worked into the cabinetry as it was being made. She said what about these and I said I loved them and that was the end of it otherwise truthfully, I wouild still be deciding ha-ha

I'm a 67 yr old female and I have no spatial skills but with a friend's help I've designed a home for my small block to make use of a bush view. Now I'm exhausted but have to plan the kitchen and butlery's pantry and being a person who likes to do things perfectly I'm overwhelmed with the decisions and choices I have to make. If I can find an article on Houzz that helps me I'm so happy I cry with relief. Thank you so much for this article on handles. The advice is terrific. I also absolutely love reading other people's comments about all sort of things on Houzz and what's great about is - I trust other people's advice because they've been there and done it and they are not biased for marketing or other purposes. Thanks everybody. Meryl Carney

  • Update from Meryl Carney - this is the view I'll have from my kitchen which is awesome when the usual view for blocks in what I call 'sardine tin estates' is a wooden fence. It was very hard work designing my kitchen/butler's pantry but I was determined to not give in to thoughts such as - oh! just make it a white kitchen because it's so hard to find a different colour I like and my builder can't wait and I'm worn out! But after a big effort I've chosen Silver Metallic Gloss polytec cupboards with Astral smartstone benchtops (love the sparkles in it) but I just couldn't decide on a splashback but then I saw a picture of a mirror splashback and I knew it was the perfect choice. I even moved the sink in the island bench so the view of flowers on it would reflect but guess what everybody? The construction supervisor rings me up and says - AW! SORRY MERYL BUT YOU CAN'T MOVE THE SINK BECAUSE THE PLUMBING IS ALREADY IN. I was so busy planning I didn't even think of plumbing! Now what? My 'gut' kept telling me 'I don't care. I'm still having a mirror splashback' and my kitchen designer said - I AGREE! So learn by my mistake BUT never give up on your dream. Me - I say - if life throws me obstacles I'll find a way to climb over them and achieve an outcome I'm satisfied with. I think when I see my new kitchen I'll be so excited I might need CPR. Good luck achieving your goals! Meryl Carney
