Fish tank extractor surely must be cruel to the fish with the vibrations?

I suppose they are fine. The motor of the extractor is an external industrial motor fitted on the attic, about 8 meter away from the tank. There are no vibrations and only a low sound level of the moving air. When fish are sleeping they won't change behaviour when turning on extractor, while they will wake up when you turn on/off light in tank. Regardless the fish, if you have the chance to use an external (industrial) motor on your extractor that would be the best option (and even less expensive). We used the same in bathrooms and they are dry within half an hour after showering. Hope that helps.
