The Plumbette

@Ai Jaedee storm water pipes aren't regulated at the moment. There was talk they would be eventually though.

The Plumbette

@hurlanator you answered your own question. :) Yes, I'm talking hardcore plumbing like installing pipework, and drains. Washing machines can be hooked up directly to the taps already installed on the wall usually, and tap washers can be changed by those without a license as can shower roses and rails.

Check with your tapware manufacturer on the warranty if a licensed plumber needs to install tapware. Most mixer taps will state a plumber must install. From my experience, often a plumber has to come out to fix a leaking tap because even though the washers have been replaced, the seat of the tap hasn't been reseated and plumbers have this tool, while most won't or aren't prepared to buy one.

Storm water isn't regulated yet either so you can do this, but check within your state and local council what the laws are as they can differ from town to town and the article would be too long to include all areas of Australia.

When in doubt, read the warranty. If there is an open pipe that is associated with potable water or sewer, this must be fixed/maintained by a licensed plumber.

I really appreciate your question asking further indepth. Thank you for commenting. :)
