Creatives At Home: Macaron Master Eveline of Dous Dolce
We take a look inside Eveline's living room and kitchen where she creates cute and delicious macarons
For every new mum, there’s one main thing on their minds – their little bub. This is no different for new mum Eveline, but she maximises her time with her son while still being able to express her passion for creating macarons by working from home. Eveline lives in a small apartment in Rosebery in Sydney, so to create the best functioning workspace, versatile furniture and smart storage solutions have been used to still make it feel like home. From what started out as a simple passion for baking macarons, Eveline has whipped up a sweetly successful business under the name Dous Dolce.

Because the process behind making this delicate French dessert is so complicated, Eveline lays out all her equipment on the dining table and works systematically. She also makes sure she has a view to look out at for inspiration. “My work requires a lot of ideas and inspiration and therefore I designed my working space adjacent to the small garden,” she says.
Rosebery Apartment
The one thing that she can’t live without is her KitchenAid, which ensures her creations are perfectly executed every time.
The KitchenAid is a stand mixer that allows Eveline to multi-task with ease – a skill that further developed after having a child. To make the space more personal, most of Eveline’s utensils are in her favourite colour – pink.
Despite the compact size of the apartment, there is still plenty of floor space thanks to a quick renovation of the computer room. Eveline had her husband drill in some shelves to a closed off nook to store all her equipment and ingredients in. It’s a great way to keep things organised and out of sight.
With the table acting as a work station, it’s easy to grab a chair and sit down at the perfect height to start piping the macarons. “This is also the fun part!” says Eveline.
What Eveline loves most about her job is that she is able to work from home and see her loved ones all the time. So thankfully, the career change worked out well for her in the end.

An abundance of natural light comes in from the windows in the living room, which Eveline says ensures she only works during the day and as the light disappears, she focusses on looking after her little one. The creative space also doubles as her dining table, which seats six people. To ensure her child is safe from all the utensils, a baby gate is set up at the entrance to the kitchen, and the workspace is against the wall so she can have full view of the area.
