Thanks for these cautions. Different hot water systems aren't covered in the article, so many variables. Always best to check with plumbing pros before making major changes to water delivery at the shower head

I live off tank water so low flow is mandatory for me. When I replaced my sink taps recently my choice of taps was limited because I'm not on mains pressure but gravity fed from the tank up the hill. So the combination of tank water frugalness and non mains pressure with instantaneous hot water needs to be taken into account but information is not readily available.

Adjustable handheld showers on a sliding rail are definitely my first choice. But a word of advice: always replace the shower head facing downward or toward the back wall of the shower stall. This will prevent the next user getting a blast of cold water in the face or having water spraying all over the bathroom when they turn the shower on.
