I have had 4 different splash backs over time, starting with wood which was fine at the time and is still in use in that house, then tiles which were functional but the style is now dated, then mirror which is surprisingly easy to keep looking good but wouldn't suit the style of my latest kitchen and then a glass splash-back which was very unsatisfactory for me as it was difficult to keep clean, showing every splatter or oil which needed a magic wiper to remove and I would never consider it again. I am about to venture into a new kitchen and have purchased patterned tiles for the splash-back and I will repeat them on the front of the kitchen island as that gets kicked a bit. Hopefully this will be my last kitchen. I know they will be functional and I am hoping that they don't date too quickly.
