Idea to Steal: Mini Mirrors on the Wall
Enjoy the visual glamour and shine created by collections of small mirrors
Sometimes a large wall mirror creates so much reflection in a room that it becomes more distraction than delight. The simple solution is to break up the area you’ve earmarked for a large mirror with smaller ones. See the cute examples below.
CHEAT SHEET
What you’ll need:
What you’ll need:
- Vintage mirrors (pick them up from secondhand stores, markets and auctions)
- Hammer, nails or hooks, and wire for hanging
- Mix up the mirrors with some framed vintage photographs, wall plaques or small artworks
Difficulty rating: Easy, but don’t rush. Take time to plan out where you place each mirror or artwork on the wall. You probably need to set aside a half day for this task.

In this small bedroom, in a country cottage in the United Kingdom, interior designer Kirsty McMorron thought it would be fun to hang a collection of antique Victorian hand mirrors to add some ‘quirky interest’, rather than go for a traditional large mirror.

In the Melbourne home of blogger and artist Paula Mills. Full story.
The home style of Paula Mills reflects her love of handmade treasures and reclaimed finds. “My style has always been vintage-eclectic,” she says. “I try hard to avoid new products. Why go out and buy brand new things when you can enjoy something in your home that’s been pre-loved, is full of character and is part of an era where things were made to last?”
Mills’ love of ‘vintage eclectic’ and ‘modern bohemia’ is clearly evident throughout her home, but it is in her bedroom that one of her ideas caught our eye. Hung salon style above her bed, Mills displays a group of vintage mirrors she picked up through her rummaging in the stores and markets she likes to frequent. Mixed with some artwork and trinkets, they create a feature behind the bed and reflect additional natural light from the window into the room.
