Get the book "the basics of embroidery on paper" by Erica Fortgens and there are 100's of this type of patterns for every season. It's a lot of fun. I used 2 strands of thread instead of one and you get a nicer look. Enjoy.

I have done string art with my art students many times. This is a pretty card and a nice simple design.

Two things seem to me to be missing from these instructions -- how to attach the thread to the paper and how to cover up the back of the stitchery so the inside of the card looks nice too. I have made things like this and glued a piece of card stock inside the card over the back of the stitchery. Or, you can make the stitchery on a separate piece of card stock and glue that to the front of the card. Also, you can make these projects without tying a single knot, just use tape. But again, you'll have to cover up the back of the stitchery if it's a card.

Looking back over the instructions here, I think I would start at the bottom of the tree, seems like it's easier to sew over the triangles that way. Also, pre-poking holes before sewing makes it go a lot faster and easier.
