lacasita- yes that's all well and good if you don't have kids. Especially if they have an artistic bent as well. I find I need to keep my supplies out of their reach.
And if I can only work on something sporadically, I don't want to spend my prescious time setting up and packing away my materials. Plus some of us need a bit more isolation to focus.

You're right, Painterchick! My kids are grown, so I don't worry about anyone disturbing a work in progress. I laughed when I read your email because my mom used to lock herself in the master bath, set the easel up in the tub, and lock the door so she could paint. That's how she got her "isolation to focus" and kept us out of her supplies. In the tub, cleanup was easy, and she just took showers instead of baths until the piece was finished.

I paint in my dining room in lieu of finishing out my attic. I’m near the kitchen if I want something and the powder room is also convenient. After seeing this artist painting a very large canvas in her dining room, I realized I didn’t need a big construction project in order to paint. I can break down the studio pretty quickly if I’m having company. I empathize with fellow artists who have kids running around - special challenges there!
