S2 design

Rebecca Gross, you're awesome! Thanks for including the beautiful Federation chimneys atop the 'Middle Park House' which S2 design renovated over one decade ago. We've always delighted in old chimneys and recently enjoyed peeling off some ugly paint and exposing the simply, raw brick chimneys of the 'Argyle' house which you featured in Houzz Tour: Heritage-Listed Victorian Dares to Turn Green.

You are right about the importance of the chimney to the way a house - and a streetscape - looks. Here in Christchurch NZ we lost almost all our chimneys in the september 2010 quake. (many houses followed five months later.) It has taken years to really get used to our chimney-free world. For a long time you were conscious of "something missing" as you drove around. There is a silver lining though - our horrible winter smog is a thing of the past.
