We rebuilt our deck a couple of years ago, on top of the garage. We've had that deck since forever but the wood was terrible, all splinters and big gaps and lately rotten, so we never used it. Now it's a lovely cedar deck, about 20ft x 20ft.

The problem is our weather in Montreal, Canada is so lousy much of the time. Very snowy and cold winter for half the year, rain and high winds for much of the spring and fall and even when it's sunny and dry sometimes in the summer, the wind simply does not allow as much as an umbrella to stand. I take my indoor hibiscus trees outside in late spring but have to tie them to the bannisters else they'll be blown down.

Still trying to figure out how we'll ever put some outdoor furniture there given the weather we have. For now I only have a resin table and slingback chairs but I've been dreaming for a nice set with sofas and cushions. I won't be getting that until and unless I can figure out how to seriously protect them from the elements. I certainly don't have space in my house to bring them in for the winter.
