@berbieharmsen,

If it is going to be a prep area, in other words have a sink etc... make sure you have a window so you're not stuck in a box without a view but if it's a general pantry for storage, a friend of mine suggested adjustable shelves, so if you have just a few tall things for example, you don't have to forfeit the entire shelf for just those few tall things and tyhat goes with small items too. My pantry is just a corner pantry not a walk but I have a sensor light that comes on as soon as the door is open, it is not activated by the door but simply movement and I love it but of course you will probably have a normal light switch?

Thanks Barbara, It's not really deep enough to include a window but it does have a pair of sliding doors. The sink is tiny but necessary as the coffee making centre (male request) is on one side and needs a tap, so needs an outlet, as the actual kitchen sink is on the opposite end of the kitchen. We had chosen a mixture of shelf heights but adjustable might be a better idea. Love the sensor light, (definitely hadn't thought of that one) otherwise I can see the light being inadvertently left on.

@berbieharmsen,

Your welcome for the tips.

I almost built a butlers pantry, had heaps of room but realized I was going to be living in a bo as it was an internal room so no point thinking of windows LOL so it was changed and I subsequently created a smaller bedroom which gave us a 3 bedroom home plus an office as large as a bedroom so effectively a 4 bedroom home for resale.

Anyway I do hope you are happy with it all.

Cheers,

Barbara
