Creative brief from client
The client gave us a presentation with a brief and a mood board reflective of her taste, with different pictures of kitchens, materials and styles.
Personality and lifestyle wise, our client loves cooking and entertaining with family and friends at home, and a beachy decor that is reflective of the lifestyle in the area where she lives.
She wanted to transform her kitchen into an inviting space and make it the heart of the home, improve the flow, increase the amount of benchtop space, allow for casual seating, and maximise the storage space.

The kitchen before works
Scope of work
The client’s builder was undertaking a major renovation of the unit, and they engaged us to design the kitchen and take care of the joinery and benchtops.
We worked closely with the client to design the new kitchen and make sure the new space would be an inviting place in line with the style she loved, with better flow, an increased amount of benchtop space and storage, and an area for casual seating.
Once the designs were approved, we proceeded to the tendering process. We presented the client with three quotes comparing the different tiers within the market, and guided her to choose the supplier that would better suit her personality and project.
Once the client was happy to engage the recommended suppliers, Blakes Of Sydney organised the entire process. This included the joinery-check measure, joinery-plans meeting, joinery install, benchtop-check measure and benchtop install.
Our staff were always available through the process to help the client with any questions or concerns that arose and to make sure the project ran smoothly.

What challenges did you work around?
The space has a very unusual configuration as it’s broken up by three entrances (a fire-escape door, a hallway, and it is also open to the living area), so we had to find a layout that could work around these.
What did you invest money in?
High-end materials and finishes: real timbers, the joinery style (V-groove & hand-painted rattan), benchtop materials (Caesarstone and X-Bond), and high-end appliances.
What did you save money on?
Our client went to town with the kitchen! But using Blakes Of Sydney design and broker service definitely saved her some cash.
