The inspiration for the style and the look came from Diane Keaton’s book The House That Pinterest Built. The kitchen and butler’s pantry layout and functionality was developed between Nouvelle Kitchens & Bathrooms and the client to suit the space and match the photo inspiration.

- Hand-painted dark charcoal cabinets.
- Castella Fine Architectural Hardware Antique Black knobs and Antique Black Shell handles.
- Fresh Concrete benchtop and splashback from Caesarstone.
- Black and stainless-steel appliances.
- Solid timber shelving and flooring.
Key pieces of furniture
- Antique solid-oak suspended shelves sourced from a Serbian barn (used to display the owners’ French copperware cooking collection).
- Handmade pendant lights sourced from India.
- A porcelain butler’s sink was positioned centrally in the island bench.
- Two 150-year-old antique French entry doors were glazed in fluted glass to match the fluted-glass cabinets on either side of the twin-cylinder range hood.

Thinking behind the arrangement of furniture and fixtures
The L-shaped kitchen is open-plan style, with a large central island bench to create maximum traffic flow and easy access to the butler’s pantry.

A 900-millimetre black upright cooker with twin-cylinder range hood was centred with fluted-glass wall cabinets on either side.
