Love this description! Our new kitchen would fit into this style also. We were going to have a small open self area, but have decided not to go ahead, I am happy to just have a open stone wall - a breathing space, and no dust! Our palette also features organic, hues, though not black.

My overhead storage is used for suitcases, boxed spare glasses and plates, and things we use only once or twice a year. Food storage is kept to a minimum as we have shops nearby that deliver. Our climate is dusty and humid and we are next to the sea. So nothing is exposed unless it get used every single day.

Below counter storage is mainly drawers storing cooking utensils and crockery and cutlery. I keep two sets of crockery because we have a dishwasher. Only the sink has a cupboard which stores the garbageand recycling bins. The cupboard that used to store the gas cylinder is about to get fitted shrlves; right now it has pullout trolleys that actually work well. Used for storing onions and potatoes, food packages and other things we will need often.

This is a tiny kitchen in a tiny house. There isn't room for anything extra!
