Thanks Yvonne K. I am building a house for the first time and these decisions sometimes need clarity. Practical points you make.

This was interesting. I have seen a couple of the nicer ones in older homes. I wonder what would compliment a curvy art deco home?

Slowly installing luxury vinyl planks throughout our home to replace an awful assortment of builder-grade tile/imitation "Pergo"/carpet. Rather than pulling off the original 4" high baseboards and possibly damaging the sheetrock - which would entail another project in itself! - or buying the outrageously expensive "matching" luxury vinyl trim, hubby will stain 1/4 round trim to match and use it to cover the gap between planks and wall. Having matching trim will hopefully prevent the 'dingy strip' left along the painted baseboards when mopping!
