Thumbs up to that, Lori. As a 50+ and having had neck issues, still visit the chiropractor monthly for maintenance, looking *up* can be perilous, for any aged person. Our last home was set up quite similar as yours, 18' from wall to fireplace, fireplace mantle slightly higher than yours, and we installed wall plug for above fireplace, as well as exactly where you placed yours. We opted for your way. We found that, when watching tv the guest chair was rarely occupied, and if so, it was one of us occupied with reading or some such non tv chore. So, all worked well using your format.

Great article! In my bedroom, I used to have a 32" tv sitting on a 42" high stand. I have a pinched nerve in my neck and was constantly experiencing irritation. When I purchased a 42" tv, I was cognizant of placing it at an angle that did not require me to look up, while seated or lying in bed, so I purchased a 24" high stand to place it on. WOW! What a difference! I can watch an entire football game without pain!
